Playing years

Normally 4 or 5 years of high school, 4 or 5 years of college, and 10 to 20 years in professional play, sometimes much less but occasionally more.

Playing Time

Most players do not play an entire game, but some have the stamina to do so, providing the game is not particularly fast or hard. In the NBA, the highest average per player is 34 to 40 minutes a game.

You do not need to play College Basketball to be in the NBA. The NBA rule, as of 2010, states that you must be 19 years of age. While most players prefer to go to college, some choose to play overseas in other leagues until they turn 19.
