Lifts and carries are pretty much the same things, it is when you are attempting to set or pass the ball and you hold on to it, or it stays in your hands for to long. Then the ball is considered dead and given to the other team. Foot Fowls are when you are serving the ball and your feet go over the serving line before the ball leaves your hand. Line Fowls are when the ball hits on the outside of the court on a serve or when the ball is hit over the net to the oposing team. Teh ball is then considered dead.
