You run to the goal with the football before the other team pulls your flag out of your pocket
There is no set standard for flag football rules. The number of players can vary from 4-on-4 to 8-on-8 or even more. The level of contact allowed will also vary from no contact or blocking to full blocking with low contact. Typically in youth flag football leagues there are more rules concerning safe-conduct of the players, while adult flag football leagues may allow a little more leeway in this area. One of the main differences between flag footbal and American football is that instead of tackling the ball carrier, the defense must pull a flag from his/her equipment belt.
I think you can get more update information from XFLAGFOOTBALL about the reles and regulation etc

There is alot to consider with that question. Here is a few questions you must ask yourself before gaining clarity.
Next think about what value you want from the league. Below is an example of a high value league:

Next, here is a low value league.

Either way, realize if this is your first time playing you prob wont win a championship. Therefore there must be some other up side. Lastly get in shape!
If you notice, all down the field there should be different colored or shaped cones or paint marks. For example all down the field there are blue pylon's. At midpoint on the field there will be different colored or shaped cones, one on each side. Those are the first down points. If you cross those, you have a first down, and you start with all new downs. BUT If you do not pass those points and you end up in between the first down point and the point on the side closest to you, it is a NO RUN ZONE and you MUST PASS.
I have been playing Flag Football since college, I was on my college team, and I now play women's Flag Football so I have plenty of experience.
