There are two conferences in the NFL and each conference is broken into four divisions. Six teams from each conference make he playoffs. In each conference, the four division winners advance to the playoffs and the two teams that were not division winners that have the best regular season record, called wild cards, also advance to the playoffs.
Six teams from the NFC and six teams from the AFC make the play-offs. There are three division winners and three wildcard teams from each conference.
1) First, a team must make the playoffs. Each league (American and National) has their teams divided into three divisions. If a team comes in first place in the division they play in OR they have the best win/loss record of all the teams that don't win their division (this team is called the wild card team), they make the playoffs. There are four teams in each league that make the playoffs. 2) The team then must win the first round of the playoffs called the Divisional Series. This series is a best 3 of 5 games. 3) The team must then win the second round of the playoffs called the Championship Series. This series is a best 4 of 7 games. The winner of this series gets to play in the World Series.
By winning its division and then winning the two league playoff championships. There are four teams from each league that go to the playoffs, three division winners and one wildcard team. The usual seeding is the division winner with the best season record plays the wildcard team and the two other division winners play each other. However, if the team with the best overall record and the wildcard team come from the same division then the wildcard team will play the division winner with the second best overall record and the division winner with the best overall record will play the other division winner. The winners of those two seven game series then play another seven game series with the winner advancing to the World Series.
It's a long and complex process-- at least more complex than it was in 1903.
First, you need to qualify for the playoffs. MLB is divided into six divisions, three in each league. You have to have the best record in your division at the end of the season. If you don't, you're still in luck. The team with the next best record will be named the Wild Card. One Wild Card is in each league.
With eight teams in the playoffs, there are two rounds (Division Series and Championship Series) until two teams come out glorious and face each other in the World Series.
Originally, the team with the best record in each league would go straight to the World Series. Simple. Remember the league was smaller back then. In 1969, the two leagues were divided in half, and the team with the best record in each division would have one (just one) round of playoffs and go to the World Series.
As the leagues expanded, it became harder and harder to make the playoffs. In 1994, a third division in each league was created, and the Wild Card was made in addition with an extra round of playoffs. Since 1995, things have been about the same.
first you need to make your towns all-star team, then your team has to make it to the state tournament and if you win then you get to the little league world series
