You don't take the seal off the 12 gram CO2 cartridge. You put it in the gun and screw the pressure plate under the cartridge all the way up until you hear it puncture the end of the cartridge. Do not over tighten it with a wrench, just make it thumb tight. See your owners manual on how to install the CO2 cylinder

If you remove the seal any other way all the gas will come out under pressure. It will act like a bottle rocket.
