Each confederation has its own competition from which a certain amount of spots for the Olympic Games are open. These vary according to who the host nation is. For the men's competition 2008, China had one spot, Asia three, Africa three, CONCACAF two, South American two, Oceania one and Europe four.

While in the women's tournament China had one spot, Asia two, Africa one, CONCACAF two, South America one, Oceania one, Europe three and one more came from a inter-confederation playoff.

A player can play for a country if he gains a citizenship. For instance you may know Deco of Chelsea who is Brazilian but in fact plays for Portugal. This is because Portugal gave him citizenship. Also you cna play for a country if, you were born in that country, your parents were born in that country or your granparents were born in thsat country. Hope this helps :)

Just practice ALOT and join other teams in order to get recruiters to see you play. If you impress them enough you might get your chance. Good luck
