The UPPER:

Material is sewn around a last, usually in several different layers (sockliner, padding, leather). Stitches are made in the leather to create a type of tread to give the player more traction on the ball. In the heel of the shoe there is usually a heal cup rather than simply fleece padding. Generally the upper is constructed of kangaroo leather, calf leather, suede, or synthetic materials.

The INNER (Insole):

This usually refers to the sockliner and foam padding used in the bottom of the shoe. Basically just a piece of padding between your foot and the outsole.

The OUTSOLE:

This is the bottom of the cleat. This is made using a molded pattern to create the cleats and hard outer sole of the shoe.

The outsole is usually glued and stapled to the bottom of the upper, and the inner is usually glued and stitched to the inside of the upper.
