you can use one of many types of pass. The most popular is the chest pass which is direct and accurate. Bounce passes are also used, along with shoulder passes and sometimes even overhead passes. the main thing is accuracy and you should always throw to where the player is running to rather than behind, usually an arms length in front.
Well, using a lob pass is not essential.
Some Netball teams play netball and do too many lob passes so the other team get the ball.
If you would like to use a lob pass I would suggest that you use it when you need to get the ball to someone but their defender is to tall.
This should hopefully give you a good idea!!
There are 4 main types of passes in netball. A shoulder pass- where you place the ball just above your shoulder, step out with the opposite foot to the hand you are holding the ball with and push the ball. A chest pass is probably the most common pass, all you have to do is place both hands on the ball, bring it to your chest and push the ball towards the person you are throwing to's chest. A bounce pass requires you to push the ball towards the ground but aim the ball to bounce about in the middle so it will bounce up before it gets to the person you are throwing to. A lob is a very difficult pass as it is very easy to intersept, just raise the ball above you head and push it upwards in a low long arc so it will reach head height as it comes to the person you want to pass to.
Chest pass, shoulder pass, bounce pass & lob
To throw a lob pass you need to throw it just over the persons head so they can jump and catch the ball. HOPE THIS HELPS.
There is no set height requirement for a Lob pass. Its kinda a "you know it when you see it" thing.
A penalty pass is different from a free pass in netball because: A free pass is awarded to the opposing team because the infringement made by the other team only affected one player (stepping, replay, breaking) BUT A penalty pass is awarded to the opposing team because the infringement made by the other team affected two or more players (contact, obstruction)
