first i wouldn't try this one your own at all get a spot a very good spot to help you. but if you have done one many times and just want to perfect it, 1.make sure your arms are touching your ear in the back handspring it helps you to puch off more than far apart, you get a lot of power. 2. shove your hips to the sky, when you go over just pull your hips up fast. 3. don't undercut by bending your back to much, that will be a bad habbit when you start doing back handspring tucks cause that's what i started doing but i got out of it and it really helps. Also doing to wall sets and crunches really helped cause it builds up the musels you really need, expecially in handspring tucks!
Hope i helped!
good luck!
First you should work on your flexability in your shoulders. It is important because next, you have to learn to do a bridge. Then with a spot (from a coach) you just push off of your feet a little harder and split in the middle.
have the beginner sit with her knees at a 90 degree angle and her arms by her ears. swing arms down next to knees. then while jumping up and back swing arms back up next to your ears. keep your arms straight while you pop off the ground. and then really kick your legs over at the same time.... good job if you followed each step very carefully you should've just done a backhandspring
The first time you do this, it should be done with a trained spotter and on mats
To start, you stand in a sitting position with your arms straight in front of you. Quickly, you jump in the air backwards and thrust your arms backwards so you flip. Once your hands touch the ground, flip your legs over and land with your arms up. While doing a back handspring, make sure you keep your legs straight (except for the starting "chair" position.) Also, always look up. Do not look over your shoulder or to the side, otherwise you will twist in the air and mess up your back handspring.
When first learning a back handspring, you start off in a sitting position. This is like sitting in a chair. Then you take a big swing, but don't let your chest fall while swinging. After you swing you lean backwards, pushing off your toes ,pushing your hips up and jumping back onto your hands. When first learning a back handspring, you MUST receive a spot from a trained coach on mats. Failure to do so could result in serious injury. Try a Cheerleading or gymnastics facility
I think the secrect to a back handspring is having lots of power and reaching as far back as you can so you don`t hurt your wrists and go under yourself.
