If you do want to learn and play cricket then I strongly suggest you join a cricket club no matter of your ability. If you are still willing to learn and improve you should get 1 to 1 coaching. These sessions improve your skill dramatically. I go to these sessions and when I started I did not know how to even hold the bat. After a year I was chosen to represent my county and I still do.

So first join a club to get a feel for the sport and gain experience of matches then attend some coaching (but keep playing for your club!).

There's no fun in playing it safe. Why not try something a little unhinged?

to join cricket all you need to do is go down to a club near you, they are normally very friendly, and tell them you are thinking of starting the sport. they will give you a membership form and you can usually start that day.
