Mintonette is the first name of the volleyball...afterwards a man noticed the game and called it volleyball (originally spelled as Volley ball)...
Within two years after the game was invented (volleyball was invented in 1895). Observers picked up on the rule that the ball could not touch the floor and began calling the game 'volley ball' which was eventually changed to 'volleyball'.
Volley means to keep something off the ground. In volleyball the ball is not allowed to touch the ground. So essentially volleyball "keep the ball off the ground". I hope this helped. :)
46 million Americans Play volleyball. I don't know, but I can tell you that this American does! :)

Rumor spreadin' round. In that Texas town. About that shack outside La grange. And you know what I'm talkin' about. Just let me know, if you wanna go. To that home out on the range. They got a lot of nice girls there. A haw, haw, haw, haw! A haw, haw, haw! Well, I hear it's fine if you've got the time. And the ten to get yourself in. A haw, haw! And I hear it's tight, most every night. But now I might be mistaken. A haw, haw! Yeah, ah have mercy! (Music the rest of the song)
