in 1937. Queen's park Athletic (sic) FC won the 1939 competition for Scotland when footbal clubs represented their countries. Scotland was the only home nation to take part in that competition and since there were only 8 participants, the feat was somewhat easier than it is today. Scotland had to wait until 1947 before they next appeared in the final but lost 3-2 to Bulgaria in the decider. They won the 1954 cup in Italy and again in 1962 in Uruguay although the latter win is much disputed by authorities (and English revisionist journalists).
