That is a hard question to answer as I like both sports.

I have only played on a soccer team before and really enjoyed the experience though I enjoy playing Basketball in spare time with my brother or friends.

Both use up your energy though!!

As a Rugby player, I'll try to be unbiased.

Each sport is quite different although rugby players are still called 'rugby football players'.

Football is more mainstream, and has a longer and perhaps better history.

The World Cup in football has been around since the 30's, and in rugby...the late 80's. Saying 'World Cup' and the people around you may think you'll be on about the football version, to get the other one, 'rugby' is added to the front.

Rugby (union in this answer only) is probably less favourable due to the requirements of the players, such as the full-contact-ness of it and that there more specialised postions than football has. In football, there will always be tims where defenders pass to their goalies, but in rugby, you will never see a wing passing to his/her fullback or hanging around in any corner to waste the time on the clock.

Also the rugby ball is not an orthordox design.

Football does not have the discipline compared to its counterpart.

The fans are more rowdy; shouting at the opposition when they're taking a penalty and just there pure patriotism (to their club/nation).

The lack of camera support ruins the game (and hopes of veiwers watching their nation) thanks to one backward Sepp B. (Who is an idiot for picking Qatar and wanting to display it in the early months on that year). A lot of football scandels with the likes of Ashley C., JT, Steven G. and Harry Redknapp's contant tax evasion

Rugby has eye-gouging, stamping/raking and fluctuating ban lengths.

Dispite rugby's physicallity, there are more A&E injuries linked to football than rugby than any given year. This is most likely due to the popularity of the 'beautiful game'

All in all, both are recognised sports. I personally like team sports rather than solo (although I don't know how my committee is going to make the shot putt into a coxless-8 man team)

I'm not quit sure what your asking but foot ball is a game where you try to make it to the other side of the feild for a TD. And basketball is where you try to get the ball in the opponents hoop for a point.

Depends on whether you like football or basketball. I personally like basketball but I still like to play football.
