French manicures are a good professional choice, but it all depends on your age. When you're a teen you can get away with sparkles and bright purples and stuff like that, but as you get older, the lighter your nail polish should get. My personal favorite color on my nails right now is...white! I like to paint my nails white and then do a cute design on them.

Things you see today that you didn't see 50 years ago: 1) Catchers wear helmets instead of a regular baseball cap while behind the plate. 2) They wear masks that are like a 'bird cage' instead of the old mask. The metal is further away from the face than the old masks. 3) Some catchers wear masks that are a combination of a helmet and a mask instead of wearing a mask and helmet seperately. 4) Some catchers wear shin guards that cover the lower area of the thigh instead of those that stop at the knee. 5) Chest protectors have padding for the front of the right shoulder that old style protectors didn't.

The same as any other position player, by their ability. The standards are hitting for average, hitting for power, and defensive fielding and throwing. In addition, catchers are rated on their ability to call the right pitches, to know their pitching staffs, and to get inside batters' heads.

Connie Mack revolutionized the catcher position. Baseball rules state that catchers must be behind the plate, but never specify how far. Prior to CM, catchers would sit at the back stop; he developed the strategy of sitting right behind the plate. He never denied that one of the reason he'd go there was to say things to the batter in order to ruin the batters concentration, a baseball tradition to this day. CM also learned to fake the sound of a foul tip, leading to a 1891 rule that a batter could not strike out on such an event. CM also admits to often grabbing the bat as it went by, even though doing so was (and is) illegal. Batters soon learned that catchers would stop doing so if the batter swung in such a way that the bat would hit the catcher's hand. It seems most catchers positioned themselves about 15 feet behind home plate. They caught the pitch on a bounce.
