The owners argued over the rent for Anfield, so Everton moved to Goodison park a mile away. Left with an empty field, Liverpool was formed to fill the vacant stadium.
It was founded in 1892 by the then Mayor of Liverpool John Houlding, who persuaded Everton FC to move from their Anfield ground and who made it the home of the new Liverpool FC.
They played their home games at Anfield (now the home of Liverpool) before they started playing at Goodison Park.
