George Joseph Burns (November 24, 1889 - August 15, 1966) was a lead-off hitter for the NY Giants. He was born in Utica, NY and began his career as a catcher. His career lasted 15 seasons. He retired playing for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1925.

George Burns (January 20, 1896 - March 9, 1996), born Nathan Birnbaum in New York City, never played professional sports. He was too busy making people laugh.
