In order to be drafted in the NFL you must be 3 years removed from high school, So, while you're sitting around waiting for the NFL for 3 years, why not play football and get better? Not all draftees play all three years, though it is rare. Maurice Clarett was drafted but only played 1 season. Jeremy Bloom only played 1 season and then focused on his skiing career before being drafted. Though this is more the exception than the rule. He Played For the Falcons then was traded to the Packers and now he plays for the Jets
