Measure speed by sending pulses of microwave radiation out towards a target, usually in a conical shape. The device then 'listens' for a bounced back reflection of the radiation, measuring the time between emitted and reflected pulses. After some complicated maths, the in-built computer calculates the speed of the projectile (such as a ball or puck).
Basic radar guns cost around £100 / US$200
