No, you run the risk of damaging your new pierce if you are hit or knocked and it is safer not to play for a while until its fully healed and you can take it out for the ~hour it takes to play, just be sure to put it back in as soon as you're done playing. And if the ref notices it, he/she will ask you to take it out immediately or keep you out of the game.
