As with all sports, Cheerleading is high risk. This is increased my the gymnastics and arial elements (stunts). If you land a tumbling move wrong on you head or neck it could be fatal. Stunting is also dangerous for both the flyer and the bases. If a flyer is dropped the wrong way it could be potentially fatal. Bases often come in contact with feel, elbows, knees, and other boney body parts, that if hit in the head with could cause damage. Ways to reduce the risks are to ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS practice on mats and with a trained coach
