To determine if a hockey skate is an outdoor vs. indoor skate, it is really based on the hardness of the wheels. This is called the durometer. Usually an outdoor roller hockey wheels will have a hardness of 80A or higher, while an indoor wheel will be abound 76A.
The wheels that come on a Mission HE1500 skate are 78A, so i would consider these an indoor skate. But you could use then outdoors, the wheels will just wear down faster.
Two words, like figure skates, hockey skates, or roller skates .
Inline skates are used in roller hockey.
There are a number of accessories that one can buy to to accompany roller hockey skates. There are special wheels and bearings as well as skate tools to use on the skates. There are also skate bags for carrying the skates and, of course, protective gear to wear while skating.
Ice skates are different because they have blades on them and they are designed differently than per Se roller skates. Roller skates have more padding and have wheels on them, while figure skates have blades on them. If one wanted to compare a figure skate to a hockey skate, for example, a hockey skate does not have toe-picks while a figure skate does. Hope this helps :)
The best roller skates come from Reebok. They are really comfortable and the pumps do work.Right now I am using the 9ks. Also CCM makes great skates. Don't get Mission's are really uncomfortable.newtest3

Its the wheels that are different. Outdoor wheels do not have the grooves, which means you don't feel as many bumps outdoors. Indoor wheels have grooves, which helps you run smoother. If you wore indoor wheels outdoors, you would feel every little bump and pebble. Plus, outdoor terrain with indoor wheels wrecks the wheels.
Based on the brand mentioned (Nike/Bauer) I'm going to venture a guess that these are roller hockey skates. In which case, the brake would be absent as all roller hockey skates are manufactured without a brake. The link below gives some information on skate brakes including the types found on recreational style rollerblades, as well as information on skates with no brake.
Roller blades are much faster and better. The roller skates are not as flexible as roller blades are. It's much safer to wear roller blades than roller skates and roller skates are likely to trip you up than roller blades. Also roller blades have more control than roller skates.
