This little piece of history is a bit distorted and overblown as a racial breakthrough, as the 1963 Loyola team started 4 black players in the national title game, defeating two time defending champion Cincinnati.
The reason the 1966 game gets so much attention is because UK had an all white team guided by legendary coach and bigot Adolph Rupp. Current NBA legend Pat Riley was on that Kentucky squad.
