In 1998, the Super Bowl was held in Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego (formerly Jack Murphy Stadium). That fall the San Diego Padres made the World Series, losing to the New York Yankees
The 2010-2011 Super Bowl is scheduled to be held at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX. The 2010 Texas Rangers are American League Champions and the 2010 World Series will be held at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington across the street from Cowboys Stadium. Although not the same calender year; (the Super Bowl will be in February of 2011, and the World Series in Oct-Nov 2010) the two events are the championship venues of the concurrent season.
Miami has hosted 10 Super Bowls. New Orleans is in second place with nine Super Bowls, and will host its 10th on February 3, 2013.

The first NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was held in 1939. The finals, won by Oregon over Ohio State 46-33, was held at the Patten Gynasium in Evanston, Illinois.
