There are 3 common widths for bolts of fabric: 36",44-45" and 54". Most apparel fabrics, calico, quilting fabric, etc. are 44-45" wide (and folded in half on the bolt). Most home decor fabrics are 54" (usually on rolls). 36" is less common, though you can find muslin, interfacing, and some more utilitarian fabrics in 36" widths. The width of each fabric should be labeled on the end of the bolt, along with the fiber, the care directions and how many yards were on the full bolt before cutting, the name of the fabric design & manufacturer.
The 58/60 indicates the width in inches. Some fabrics are 44/45", also. These are the two most common widths you'll come across. The length of the fabric depends on how much you need/buy. If you use a pattern, the pattern will instruct you on how much (length) fabric to purchase depending on the width of fabric you choose.
The answer depends on the width of the fabric which has not bee mentioned. There are a number of standard widths.

to answer this question properly i would need to know what the pattern repeat on the fabric is and what style of heading you have chosen as the ammount will greatly vary according to those things. If you were having basic pencil pleat heading and a plain fabric (using fabric of a standard 54"width) you would need to use 1 and a half widths of fabric in each curtain making a total of 3 widths. Add 10" for hems to you r drop, making 58", multiply that by your number of widths. We work in metres here which you would need 4.5 metres which i think in yards is (rounded up) 5 yards. If you had a patterned fabric you may need more to match the patterns.
Right now the most popular fabric to use on upholstered furniture is cotton-prints with a gingham pattern.
