William Edward "Wild Bill" Donovan

Donovan was a player / manager with the Yankees from 1915 - 1917. He played for the Detroit Tigers in 1918 and never played again.

He later served as the manager of the Philadelphia Phillies for part of 1921 season but was replaced after just 44 games.

He never played again after 1918 and never coached again after 1921.

Yankee Stadium didn't open until April 18, 1923.
