London hosted the games in 1908, 1948, and 2012. They would have hosted the games in 1944 had they not been cancelled that year due to some minor unpleasantness in Europe. (However, had they done so, they almost certainly wouldn't have done it again four years later as well.)

That didn't pan out, and the 1906 Intercalated Olympics were the only ones ever done on this schedule. Still, Athens was the host city for the games three times a full 8 years before London managed it.
