hand eye coordination is key. For example vault when you jump on the springboard you always need to know right then what direction you are going in and where your hands are going to be.

Beam is the biggest thing. If you want to do a backhand spring or just a simple handstand or cartwheel YOU ALWAYS NEED TO KNOW WHERE YOUR FEET AND HANDS ARE! Or you could end up splitting the beam and trust me that hurts!
