The most famous athelete that comes from Missouri is by far Sachtel Paige. He was born in the year 1906 in Kansas City.

Paige, known for his amazing display of pitch quality (his curve is literally unmatched) and his stunning duo of velocity and control, Paige pitched in the minor leagues before he was let into the majors in 1948. He also helped in breaking baseball's color barrier.

By the time he joined the majors, he was 42 years old and his pitches didn't have the same movement they did in his younger days.

The years he pitched in the major leagues, his record barely stood above .500. However, he was selected to an All-Star game, and became the first Negro inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 1971. He passed away 11 years later in 1982. He's still considered one of the best pitchers in history. And he is Missouri born
