Summer olypmics are events surrounding sports such as swimming, Track and Field, Weightlifting, etc etc. The winter Olympics only have events that are ice and snow related, like skating, hockey, skiiing and other things like Snowboarding and such. The winter olypmics are held during the winter time and the summer Olympics are held during the summer.
I believe that both are appealing, depends. but if I have to say anything, I think the summer ones are more mass appealing due to personal accessibility with the sports, more emotionally driven past times in summer in my opinion for the average person. I personally think some winter games are more for people that are exposed to it that are more appealing. Like skiing, bobsled, just to name a few. I think the average person doesn't go "bobsledding" on the weekend or even on vacation. but my answer is based on what an average person is able to do like swimming, basketball, baseball, soccer, running, weightlifting, while they don't have to be Olympians to enjoy it. but i honestly like to watch some winter games, I can't honestly say I have done anything cold weather besides build a snow man if they are snow that day.
Normally the Summer Olympics cost more than the Winter Olympics; however, the 2014 Sochi Olympics were the most expensive Olympics of all time. The 2014 Winter Olympics cost an estimated 51 billion dollars compared to the second most expensive Olympics which were the Summer 2008 Beijing Olympics which has an estimated cost of about 40 billion dollars.
I would say the summer Olympics is far more expensive than the winter Olympics because although both run for about 2 weeks there are far more participants in the summer games.

The summer Olympics are more popular than the Winter ones only because more countries participate, especially the ones that do not have winter like the ones in Africa
Winter Olympics are in Vancouver. No more summer Olympics until 2012.
There are many more than five games in both the winter and summer Olympics.
The Summer Olympic Games include more 'summertime' sports such as volleyball, swimming, or equestrian, while the Winter Olympic Games include more 'wintertime' sports such as skiing, ice skating, and snowboarding.
US gets more medals in the winter than the summer. they got 25 in the summer and they 32 medals so far in the winter.
It depends on your opinion. Apparently, the top 3 for both type of the Olympics are as they are below: Winter Olympics #1: Women`s Figure Skating #2: Half Pipe #3: Pair Figure Skating Summer Olympics #1: Men`s Swimming #2: Men`s Running #3: Women`s Swimming I see a pattern in that. Anyway I`ve researched and now can show a few more details. Percentage of Women watching Winter Olympics: 82% Percentage of Women watching Summer Olympics: 84% Percentage of Men watching Winter Olympics: 73% Percentage of Men watching Summer Olympics: 64% Percentage of Girls watching Winter Olympics: 45% Percentage of Girls watching Summer Olympics: 11% Percentage of Boys watching Winter Olympics: 27% Percentage of Boys watching Summer Olympics: 36% Winter Olympics are more popular, and so that means Women`s Figure Skating is the hottest Olympic sport. After comparing this all to that all, I`ve noticed what is most popular. But most popular->hottest, so it`s "hottest", as some people say. I, myself, prefer Pair Figure Skating, but people can think what they want. Luge->not as popular as->mens figure skating->not as popular as->womens figure skating Pair Figure skating falls in about 4th place for Winter Olympics. Luge is about 7th though.
the united states have won more medals at the summer and winter Olympics than any other country to take place in the summer and winter Olympics.
The last Olympics was the Sochi 2014 Olympics, which was held from February 6-23, 2014.The Summer Olympics are held every four years and the Winter Olympics are held every four years. However, there is an Olympics held every other year because the Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics are held two years apart in alternating even-numbered years. The last Olympic games held were the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy and the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Click on the '2006 Winter Olympics' and the '2008 Summer Olympics' links on this page to learn more about them.
Yes, in 1992 and 1994. Up to 1992, the Winter Olympics and Summer Olympics were held in the same year. The International Olympic Committee decided to split the Winter and Summer Games by two years in the hopes of getting more attention for the Games since they would be held two years apart instead of in the same year. To do this, they scheduled the Winter Olympics for 1994, two years after the 1992 Winter Olympics and kept the Summer Olympics scheduled for 1996, four years after the 1992 Summer Olympics. 1992 and 1994 is the only time the Winter Olympics were held two years apart.
Yes. Romania has participated in all Winter Olympics since 1928, with the exception of 1960. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romania_at_the_Olympics for more information on Romania's participation in both Summer and Winter Olympics.
There are the Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics. Each are held every four years at alternating intervals meaning one of the games are hosted every two years.
France is most likely to be in more sport federations than Turkey for France has been in both Summer Olympics and in the Winter Olympics.
