What is the volleyball points system and how does it determine the outcome of a match?

In volleyball, teams earn points by successfully hitting the ball over the net and into the opponent's court. A point is scored when the opposing team fails to return the ball or commits a fault. The first team to reach a set number of points (usually 25) and be ahead by at least two points wins the set. A match is typically best of five sets, and the team that wins three sets first wins the match.
