In Basketball, being called offsides results in a turnover, where the opposing team gains possession of the ball.

In hockey, a player is called for "offsides" when they enter the opponent's zone before the puck does. The penalty for offsides is a faceoff outside the zone. This impacts the flow of the game by stopping play and potentially disrupting the team's offensive momentum. Player positioning on the ice is affected as the offending player must retreat to the neutral zone before re-entering the opponent's zone legally.
no they would be offsides.
I can think of the following (more than two) * A goal being scored * Puck out of play * Icing * Offsides * Penalties (when offending team touches the puck if it's a delayed penalty) * Severe injury

The most common reason for timeout being called is for an injury. This allows the team staff time to get on the field and either treat or remove the injured, without disadvantaging either team. Time is usually called if the umpire is awarding a personal penalty (i.e. a warning or penalty card), so that they will not lose attention to the game and can make the message clear to others. It may not be necessary if a penalty corner or stroke is awarded at the same time. A timeout can be called in some games and leagues if the ball is "lost", e.g. by being hit or flicked over a fence, or going into a drain, while it is fetched or replaced. Timeout is automatically called at the award of a penalty stroke, and is restarted when play restarts. Some competitions, such as the Euro Hockey League and a few North American divisions, allow a timeout to be called by the teams themselves, analogous to basketball or American football, at certain times in the process of play.
The penalty arc ensures that all players are at least 10 yards away when a penalty kick is being taken. It is not considered to be part of the penalty area.

offsides is when the defense or attack cross the mid line* but there are exception with the defense like if a middie stays behind the midline the defense person can go across this is called middie back *There must be a certain number of players on each side of the mid line per team, which is the reason for offsides. (the number of players mandatory on each side per team varies) Each team has to have 4 players in their Defensive end and 3 players in there offensive end. If a team has less then 4 or 3 respectively this would be offsides. Any player including long pole, goalie, mid field or attack can cross the middle line as long the side they are leaving has the correct number of players remaining. Although not common a goalie could technically go end to end all over the field with being penalized for offsides. So for example if a player crosses the middle line leaving less the minimum number of players remaining in the end that team would be penalized for the infraction with either a loss of possession or a 30 second technical penalty.
belive it or not basketball is all about being smart with the ball which comes with fundamentals
In the NFL, the penalty for hands to the face is a 15-yard penalty and can result in a player being ejected from the game for repeated infractions.
