Miyazaki has said that he is retiring for a long while. I personally believe that he will continue to play a role in the creation of animated films until he is physically no longer able to do the work. He has said that Spirited away was his last one and then he went on to create Howl's Moving Castle and Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea. he will probably continue to find many more sources of inspiration for his movies.
