I have been skating for over a year now, and the best advise I can give to you would be to get lessons. Alternatively, when you're on the ice pretend your feet are rubbing on a floor mat, going left to right, do it slower in bigger movements and if you keep dedicated to practicing then you'll surely get the hang of it. But, as I said, I would recommend lessons.

Hope I helped! (:

Skate backwards in a straight line. Lift one leg off the ice and extend it in front of you. Start to bend your skating leg reaching forwards with your arms and slowly lower yourself down.
