The consumption of alcohol makes you thirsty, plus long term use can affect your reflexes, conditioning, etc. Overall its really bad to consume especially if you are into high level sports, best to leave it till after you win the trophy.

This depends on the question more specifically. Who is partaking in the alcohol ? The players or the attending "onlookers" ? I would assume you mean the people watching the game. Alcohol has different effects on different people, so It would differ from person to person. Alcohol simply makes it easier for a person to make decisions. This would make people decide or act in ways that they would not if they were sober. This could result in fighting, laughter, crying, and excessive behavior. If someone was drunk, and the opposing team scored a point, this person could become angry and would behave in ways that he/she would not normally behave. Alcohol is not a good combination with emotions depending on the person.
