No, major league players come from all ranks, high school, community college and full colleges. In the past, some major league players were still in high school, or dropped out of school and played. Not recommended.

It is a violation of NCAA rules to take any money for any sport while in college. The only acceptable payments are scholarships for tuition, books, room and board.

You have to play one year in college to go to the MLB I'm pretty sure, but you might be able to just enter the draft.
