A whole rink may appear smaller due to the perspective and viewing angles from the stands or cameras. The dimensions of the rink remain the same, but the layout of the arena and the distance from the ice can create an optical illusion. Additionally, the presence of the boards and the overall design of the venue can further contribute to the perception of a smaller playing area.
As per the WHL site, "The official size of the rink shall be two hundred feet (200') long and eighty-five feet (85') wide." These are the same dimensions as an NHL rink.
Vancouver Canucks - WHL - was created in 1945.
Victoria Cougars - WHL - was created in 1971.
A rectangle.
This depends on capacity of the rink and how many people you can have on the rink in one go. I would normally say 200 pairs would be sufficient however for a smaller rink you could have less. Regards Korby
