SpikeBoarding™ is a land based sport comprised of three disciplines whose foundations are are based in three equal parts of the following sporting skills, they are:Cross Country Skiing-Down Hill LongBoarding-Stand Up Paddle. The sport is executed on any paved asphalt road or path. The principle sports equipment required are a SkateBoard Spike™ pat. pend. and a LongBoard SkateBoard with specially suited characteristics to SpikeBoard™. Principally, the board should have sufficient stand over length so as to be able to switch stance with great ease at elevated heart rates. A board of 45 inches with drop design is optimal. Helmet and protective gear is advised. Longboard slide gloves are crucial gear for the expert level but not required for beginners or intermediate riders not wishing to slide higher speeds. The sport is endurance based in it's mind set. Stopping to walk up hills is never the goal. Achieving sufficient strength, balance and endurance to do loops of 30 minutes and more up to 6-8 hours is the ideal goal. SpikeBoarding™ is a transport sport and may be done for sport or fitness. SpikeBoarding™ was invented by Enrique G. Cubillo on August 10th, 2010. SpikeBoarding is an endurance race sport whose three governing rules are simply indicated by three symbols:
SpikeBoarding™ Racing Rules =
O = Downhill, neither spike nor feet may touch ground
I = STAND UP SPIKE™ Arms are in use only and used to Spike.
X = Cubi-X-Cross One legged push in conjunction with one armed spike.
Cubi-X-Cross is a move executed during SpikeBoarding™. The upper body performs a Nordic style, single handed spike, using a SkateBoard Spike™ pat. pend. toward the rear of a longboard while the leg on the opposite side of the body performs a traditional skateboard push. These occur simultaneously. With cadence between 1-25 both legs and arms switch their actions with one another while the SkateBoard Spike™ is tossed from one hand to the next in the back or front of the athlete. The Cubi-X-Cross was innovated by Enrique G. Cubillo on August 10th, 2010 in Central Park, New York, NY. During SpikeBoard Racing™ the Cubi-X-Cross move is a mandatory move on all race course segments with an X indicator. Cubi-X-Cross comprises one third of SpikeBoarding™ and it's principle influence is cross country skiing.
SUS™ or Stand Up Spike™ has it's roots based in Stand Up Paddle or SUP and skateboarding or longboarding. Innovator and life long full body fitness enthusiast Enrique G. Cubillo had desired to practice SUP, a water based balance board sport. His time being constrained and without logistically simple warm water at his disposal he innovated the sport of Stand Up Spike™ as well as created the world's first SkateBoard Spike™ pat. pend. SUS™ is practiced with any skateboard and a SkateBoard Spike™ pat. pend. Helmet and protective gear is recommended. The feet never leave the deck of the skateboard. The athlete uses a spiking motion towards the rear of the board. The Spike strikes at or near the rear wheels. SUS™ may only be performed on asphalt. The SkateBoard Spike™ pat pend. shall not work on concrete. The return stroke is also a vertical move parallel to the body. SUS™ may be practiced on flat terrain as well as up hills on grades as steep at 10% as well as in rain and moderate ice and sleet cover. A board fit with fenders is optimal for rain and snow slush conditions. SUS™ may be raced in conjunction with slalom cones down and SUS™ back up in a series of three or more circuit repetitions. SUS™ comprises one third of the moves required in the sport of SpikeBoarding™ and is represented by the I symbol in O-I-X SpikeBoard Racing Rules (see SpikeBoarding).
A SkateBoard Spike® pat pend. is a device used for human powered propulsion on land while SpikeBoarding™ or Stand Up Spiking® (SUS®). It's main function is to optimally transfer 100% of the full force of the upper body into pavement while aboard a skateboard or longboard. It is the only device as of yet designed that may be used with such a high degree of efficacy so as to maintain average speeds on flat land using arms only at 18 mph as well as used to perform a Cubi-X-Cross a one handed Nordic move plus kick on a skateboard and achieve up hill speeds on 6 % grades of constant 9-11 mph. The innovator of the SkateBoard Spike® is Enrique G. Cubillo. SUSOIX™ is the manufacture.
