Waxes are solid hydrocarbon. The Alkane Family. The formula is CnH2n+2. C in the formula represents carbon and n represents number of carbon. H represents hydrogen. From methane to butane are in gas form. From pentane to heptane are liquid form. (At room temperature) But from octane down the series are wax. The solubility reduces down the group.
