It really depends on the child. Some children can't handle the cold or the physical work or the have the capability to learn and understand until they are 4 or 5 while others may be ready as early as 2. So if your child is mature and you think he/she can handle it, go for it but if you think it would be best to wait for a couple more years, wait. A parents instincts are often correct so go with what you think and have fun skiing with your child.

But there are also snowboarders younger than 18.
