If your talking about tricks like kickflips, you need to commit. You are scared to land on the board so you turn sideways. If you don't commit and expect to never fall, you will never get better. Keep practicing, try landing on the bottom of the board before you try to get the full rotation. It will eventually come to you you just need patience.
