Answer First you need to build a frame for it for the decking to sit on. Need to mount a 2x4 or 2x6 board that goes across the open on the door. Ofset this board down the height of the thinkness of the decking material that you will be using for the ramp top itself. It makes mouting look cleaner if you cut the front top of this board in the angle that the ramp will be heading. This will make it flush at the top. Then you will need 2x4 or 2x6 boards that will be along the sides of the frame. Then you need a board about every foot in between these sides. The sides and middle boards should be cut at angles at the top and bottom so the they mount flush with the top board and the ground. You can just toe-tail these boards to the top door way board. When this is done then just nail or screw the top decking boards down (ramp boards). I hope I explained that clear enough. Good luck.

There are a number of different ways which are used and these depend on;

The space available, what will the ramp be used for in total, building regulations in your area and if the ramp is to be fixed or temporary.

Assuming fix, with reasonable space provided, no specific building restriction i.e. not fixed to a public walk way, not fixed directly to a road etc

A ramp is normally used for wheelchair access. As ther are a number of differing sizes you will always go for the larger, these are normally motorised and driven by the user using a handcontrol.

The ramp wideth for instance here will be 38 inches. The height you need to the house has steps these as an example are 24 inches at the top step from ground.

The ramp can be made of concreate or decking wood. Concreate is long lasting and is less likely to need maintaneance if set correctly.

The ramp need to have an incline (slope up) from the ground to the 24 inch top where the building is entered /exited. It is ALWAYS preferable to make a ramp with the minimum gradiant as the greater the slope the more difficult to get up and the maredangerous to come down. therefore the slope would be 10 feet long with a slope of 9 to 9.6 degrees. The ramp can be cast using concreate in a shuttered frame. The frame will be sectionised to allow for small section to be case and dried before the next is set. As concreate will alwats try to find its own level you cannot just set you 2 boards at the correct width and length and fill them because teh concreate will run out.

You will have to make the sure that the ramp has a compacted gravel foundation as placing it on normal earth will lead to movement and the ramp breaking. The top of the ramp will need enough speace to allow a wheelchair to turn in to and out of the building.

When all section have been laied and have dried fully you can then set against the open side a barrier to stop the used falling off the ramp.

The same diamention can be used if making the ramp of decking
