The words have been sucked of meaning by overuse. Use specific, concrete images so that your reader will see what you see and feel what you feel.
One can create a concrete poem by using simple language and words which describe people, places and things to inspire a feeling in someone. If one is just starting out writing poetry, then one should write a poem on a subject with which one is familiar and keep the poem short, too.
