We've known for about 600 years now that no force is needed to keep a thing

moving, unless there's something else going on that's trying to make it stop.

Ice is unusual because on ice, there's very little of the force that usually tries to

make moving things stop ... called "friction". So it may appear as if there's a force

on ice that keeps things moving.
