Charles Didelot invented the first ballet shoes in the late 1700s.
Yes. In fact, ballet is the reason pointe shoes were invented.
They were made by Marie Taglioni, the first ballerina to dance on her toes.
Ballet shoes were invented in Italy during the 15th century as part of the early development of ballet. They became more refined in France, where ballet gained popularity at the royal court. The shoes evolved over the years, transitioning from soft slippers to the distinctive pointe shoes used in modern ballet.
Im not too sure about ballet flats, but pointe shoes used to be like a ballet flat, and very flimsy. The Italians hardened the pointe shoes. That's all I know.. I believe it was specifically Maire Taglioni, an Italian ballet dancer, that is attributed with starting to to harden the shoes at the point and danced on her toes.

You have to sew it on.
well point shoes are ballet shoes that have a hard bit around the toes that allow you to go up on the tips of your toes without hurting them!!!
Well, If they are soft shoes (not point shoes) you can put them in the washing machine but you can't clean point shoes.
Louis the 14 began ballet in his court then it spread world wide and pointe shoes were invented. :(
Because back when they invented pointe shoes, people thought it was amazing to be able to stand on ones toes and dance. It inspired people to do ballet. Now people are used to the idea of ballet and pointe shoes, so less people are interested in it.
