Christopher Bruce's, Ghost Dances, is an amazing ballet. In the 1970's there was a coup d'etat in Chile. Coup d'etat meaning the military overthrew the government, a takeover.During this coup certain people going against the new government were "taken away" in the middle of the night. Families lost loved ones suddenly with no notice.Christopher Bruce was inspired by their stories and created Ghost Dances. He used Andean Folk music. But what is interesting and I think awesome is the first 5-7 minutes of the ballet, there is no music, only the sound of wind blowing. The three ghosts must coordinate and communicate with each other, using their breath and instincts.During the dance the Ghosts will take away certain people of the village with no warning, much like the people who were taken away from their families in the 70's in Chile. When i performed it, we would perform it for school children at our theater. When the curtain would rise all the kids would be whispering then complete silence for the rest of the show. I've never heard 1,000 kids be so quiet. This ballet is my favorite. Such an amazing experience to perform it.
There are many different dances that are considered to be lively dances. In music lively dances could be Gavotte dances.
Rooster is Bruce's recollection of the mid-1960s using music, dance, gesture and costume to create the feeling of a Saturday night out. It examines the relationships between men and women from the assumption that the men have an natural born ability advantage, although there are points in the work where the women triumph.
it would suck if there is no music and dances
