Contemporary is slow music which is sort of balletic. Modern dancing can be any tye of music, and it can be sort of like jazz, but when you do modern exams you have syncopation etc in, where as you wouldn't have that in jazz.

The first thing is I think you mean Contemporary dance!

If you do read the following, if not I'm sorry.

Contemporary dance is a genre of dance that uses movements that are different to other types of dance. It is hard to define the style, as the style is fluid yet nebulous.

The name 'Contemporary Dance' describes a range of techniques and styles used in classes, workshops and dance choreography. Contemporary dance was developed in the early 20th Century as a reaction against the rigid techniques of ballet. Contemporary can be danced to almost any style of music, or united with other dance forms to create new styles of movement.
