The definition of a sport is not athletic development but competition. So while dance is definitely an artform, all dance is not a sport. The sports of gymnastics and figure skating both have elements of dance.
---
Dance takes hours and hours of practice just to learn one move. You have to be physically capable to throw your body around into all of these crazy positions. You have to be dedicated, flexible, athletic and strong. It takes so much to be a dancer. However this being said it is also an art form because you create beautiful dances for people to enjoy. It is a sport because of the athletic abilities you need to do it, but never forget that it is to an art.
Technically, to be a sport, the activity must be active and the player, or dancer in this case, must have physical effort and skill.
If you have ever done dance then you will understand that dance is active and the dancer must have physical effort in order to maintain the beautiful art. The dancer has much training to be as flexible, well prepared, and coordinated as a dancer should be. Without skill, this sport would not be a sport, so technically, dance is a sport.
I think Breakdance should be an OLYMPIC SPORT..... SERIOUSLY it is very hard to do and not everyone has the TALENT to do it.....and they should make it as a sport in all the schools in the Entired world.... because it might be ppl who never thought they can do it but if they just give it a shoot at it, they should decide if they are able to do it.....
and if ppl dont wanna agree then all the ppl should VOTE if it would be good for the schools to have BREAKDANCE as a SPORT in all the schools
Ballroom dancing has received a certificate from the olympic committee recognizing it as a sport, however, it is NOT on the list of sports to be included in the Olympics as of yet.
There is ice dancing in the winter Olympics and rhythmic gymnastics (dancing with a ball, hoop, or rope) in the summer Olympics
YES! Jazz dancing is a sport! Any type of dancing is a sport! Just because it is not in the Olympic doesn't make it not a sport. Because football is a sport and not in the Olympics and same with ringette, baseball, soccer and others too. In dancing you always have to work hard and be strong to lift others up and to do twirls and things like that. You also have to have a good memory just like you have to in basketball and baseball to remember all the rules.
Because you are dancing to jazz.
Street dancing and break dancing are different things. Then can often be seen together, as a routine, but they can be seperatley. Break dancing is floor work, and can involve street dancing where you are not on the floor. Sheena x
