13 is not to old to go on pointe. Some schools try to get their dancer on around the ages of 11-13. I may be wrong but i really do think I'm quite right.

If you are pre pointe how long before you are pointe?

You are usually dancing for about 4-5 years before you start pointe work but the common age is about 13-14 Hope this helps!

Why is the age 13 for pointe?

By age 13 girls who want to start pointe are mostly through puberty. Their bones in their ankles are strong enough to support themselves on pointe. They will not stint the growth of bones in their feet, because (again) they are mostly through puberty and done growing. Also, by age 13 (if they started ballet when they were younger) they should be strong and have good turnout. At 13, girls should really be able to decide if they actually want to start doing pointe or do ballet at all.

How long do you have to do ballet before going en pointe?

Usually around 5 years, however it depends when you started. A good teacher will only allow you to go en pointe when your feet are strong enough and have almost finished growing, around 11 or 12. If you go en pointe before then your bones are too soft and will warp. If you only started ballet this year, for example and you are around 13 or 14 you will probably be allowed to go en pointe, but you will have to be guided very carefully by your teacher.

You are 13 and on grade 3 ballet How long will it take you to get on to your pointes?

AnswerI'm really sorry to tell you that you will never be able to go on pointe. Pointe work normally starts in intermediate foundation ballet when you are about 14-15. When you reach this grade you will be 17 and it will be to late to begin as pointe work mostly begins from age 9-12 only. AnswerI turned 15 last week, and I started ballet 2 months ago when I was 14. I have private lessons (another girl and I). We were both complete beginners to ballet, though I take tap and the other girl takes jazz. Our teacher started us at Grade 3, and said that this week we would move onto Grade 4. My teacher then told us today that we were actually going to begin Intermediate Foundation (ie. skip 7 grades). I was really surprised, but my teacher says that in a years time we will do the Intermediate Foundation exam and then start Intermediate work. Intermed. Foundation, as you may be aware, is when you normally start pointe work, and the average age for intermediate foundation is around 13-16. I am proud that I am working at the same level as my 16 year old friend who has been doing ballet for 12 years!!! My teacher is just pushing us to do and achieve our best.So basically, don't give up because I am 15 and beginning pointe work late this year and next year or sometime. I have only been doing ballet 2 months and I'm actually not very good- though I love it!You can still get to pointe work standard!Maybe you should talk to your teacher about how you want to achieve intermediate foundation level, and she/he may push you harder.AnswerI am 13 and in intermediate Foundation on pointe and am doing my exam next week but if you are in grade 3 and work hard you may still be able to go on pointe later maybe even skipping some grades. Never give up hope if you really want to go on pointe maybe discuss some options with your teachers and they might send you to the physio therapist to get your feet examined. Good Luck!I am 13 in grade as well and in inter foundation as well as that and in grade 3 its my second year so its my exam and after my grade 3 exam in grade 4 we go to demi pointe so ill be 14. Because im In inter foundation tho it might be me and others who take that class get there a little faster.

How long does it take to get on pointe?

It depends on how long you have been dancing and the dance school you're in. Usually the norm is to give it 3-4 solid years of training and prep (not particularly pre-pointe, but at least working up to that) For the average dancer who starts around 6-8 years of age the normal time to start pre-pointe and pointe is around 13 and 14 years of age. If you start later it will depend purely on how quickly you strengthen and learn dance, on your body type, and when your instructor says you're ready to begin.

Nope! 13 is definitely not too late to start. There is plenty of time to become really good if you start at 13. There are pros that have started later than 13.

No, it is too young. If it was too late, then, there would be 10 year olds driving. To drive you need to be 18.

How old do you have to be to dance en pointe?

A safe age to start pointe is ages 11 to 13, which is when the growth plates of the ankle have fused. Starting pointe before this has the potential to permanently disfigure the ankle and/or foot. Also generally before this girls have not had enough strength training to sustain them en pointe.

Can you get in a dance boarding school with no pointe experience?

Depends on what level you are at. If you are older then the main age of which pointe work starts, (11-13) then probably not. Also depends how good your technique is!
