If you want a fancy ballet bun you simply 1. put your hair in a high ponytail 2. grab the ponytail and wrap it around in a circle so it looks like a bun 3. secure with a hair band and bobby pins If you want a messy bun you.. 1. put your hair in a pony tail at the height where you want your bun to be. 2. simply grab all of the hair and scrunch it and put a hair band around it and secure with bobby pins. Good luck! :)
You can do pretty much anything you want. What might look best depends on the type of dance you are doing. If it is ballet usually a classic ballet bun is good but sometimes a choreographer wants your hair down. In contemporary your hair can be however you want it, up/down, I've had my hair in a messy bun for a contemporary piece before. Its just whatever the Choreographer feels looks best with the piece as a whole.

Well her performance hair is just like any ballet bun. Create a high tight ponytail and make it smooth with hairspray and gel/ anything to get it to stay flat. I believe Hollie has extremely fluffy hair. Then twizzle the ponytail until it coils on itslef to create a bun shape. Next take hair pins to keep it inplace. Make sure it is secure and hairspray once again.
