I would say yes, but I don't know of any statistics or anything. But dancers who are overworked are more prone to injuries, so for a dancer who is overworked it is good to have great technique to help reduce the chance of getting an injury. But for a person who dances for maybe half the time of an overworked dancer isn't as likely to be injured because he/she wont be so physically exhausted when he/she dances and will be able to keep up with technique and stay careful.
This is because ballet dancers are usually part of a ballet company which is more consistent and stable than other dance jobs. Ballet dancer's steps are generally more technically demanding than other dancers so more skill and practice is required.
one of the best ballet dancers i think is Darcey Bussell but the are many other bnallet dancers that could and may be better than her =}
Professional ballet dancers are required (among other tasks) to rehearse and perform ballets.
Usually, you must be reasonably flexible, have good musicality, the ability to learn quickly, and have ballet/other dance training.
Ballet is an art. It is done for the same reasons as other arts to convey statements or emotions. Ballet dancers are passionate for the dance and use it as a medium to tell a story.
yes, the dancers that are overworked become more likely to injury from enhaustion because your body wears down.

Classical ballet is a very fine type of dance. It has mostly slow moves and work on form. The guys are used as framework for the women. This is the most simplest answer I can give you. -12 years dancing
Because you said "Ballerina" that means the top ballet dancer in a company. There can only be one Ballerina in a company. The male counterpart would be called a Danseur Nobel. Other male dancers would be called Danseurs, or by their rank such as Principal, Soloist or Corps de ballet or just ballet dancer. The same goes for the other women in the company. They would be just called ballet dancers or by their rank. Never a Ballerina.
Dancers are pressured to maintain a certain weight and look, usually very thin (especially among ballet dancers). This unhealthy focus on weight and dieting leads to anorexia, bulimia, and other eating disorders. Sometimes these disorders are even encouraged by fellow dancers or trainers.
Wrestling and Football BALLET is one of the most physical sports in the world. It needs technique, perseverance and an incredible amount of strength. Male ballet dancers have more strength in ballet (especially in the legs), than any other male sports do.
This depends on what type of costume you are talking about. Most small studios order pre made costumes that normally cost around $80. On the other hand, professional, custom fitted tutus may cost up to $2500. This high cost depends on how many layers of tulle the tutu has and how much detailing the top of the tutu has. These tutus are often bought by ballet students in pre-professional ballet academies and youth ballet dancers that compete in competitions like PRIX and such that get you noticed by the ballet companies. Once ballet dancers get excepted into a company, all the costumes are re-worn and fitted to each dancer. The dancers pay no money for the costumes because they are owned by the company and they only wear them for performances.
Ballet is only painful when you turn your feet out to much, or are trying to lift your leg higher. Sometimes it can hurt if one knee or ankle is growing faster than the other. That tends to happen a lot to dancers, at least in my class.
